Really living!

While catching up on my blog reading, I read this quote and stole it from a friend who stole it from a friend who was inspired by the life and teachings of Marjorie Hinkley. I post it here for your reading pleasure. It reminded me of how important it is to really live life the way we know we should, and of how important the little things we do each day as a mother and a friend really are. Thanks Rachel.
"I Don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenk's lawn. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someones garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived." -Marjorie Hinckley

  2. I haven't heard it before either. But I think it is good enough to save. It is quite beautiful and is a nice reminder of what is important for us to do with our lives.

  3. Well said. If everyone in the world had that philosophy, there would be a lot less problems..

  4. I love that quote too, however, it is a quote from Linda Bentley Johnson given in a talk at the 1997 BYU Women's Conference called Steak and Spam Service.
